Ayrshire, 26th March 2012 - This year’s Scottish Golf Show will see Ayrshire’s Turnberry Resort displaying two of the most famous golfing trophies to have been held aloft by some of the sport’s greatest names on its stand.

The Claret Jug, presented to the winner of the Open Championship, the largest golfing tournament in the world, and the Senior Open Championship trophy will be on show to attendees of this year’s event. Taking place from 30th March to 1st April 2012, the Scottish Golf Show is being staged at The Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston, Edinburgh.

The Claret Jug, dating from 1872, bears the inscription 'The Golf Champion Trophy' and was made by Mackay Cunningham & Company of Edinburgh at a cost of £30. In the 140 years since, it has been won by legendary golfing figures including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Gary Player.

As host of this year’s Senior Open Championship, Turnberry is also displaying the tournament’s trophy at their stand (number A35). In addition to showcasing the famous trophies, Turnberry will also launch its Sunset Golf rates for 2012. The Sunset Golf rates allow golfers to play the Ailsa Course after 3pm throughout the summer months for £95 per person. The resort’s Spring and Summer golfing events programme will also be unveiled which includes the annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament alongside some exciting invitational events open to club players.
