Korineum Golf & Beach Resort was proud to host its first tour group of visitors from the Far East. Working with Tour Operator Alda Travel 20 visitors from China arrived in the first week of December to combine golf with a daily excursion programme of the island taking in such famous sights as Bellapais Abbey and Kyrenia Harbour and St Hilarion.
Eileen Brader a Chinese member of Korineum and working for Alda Travel for the Chinese tourist market worked together with Sales & Marketing Executive Lyndsay Davies at Korineum to make this trip happen.
Friday 6 December was the Tournament day - Kanpura Open 2013. Players played in teams for the Best Team prize either North Cyprus or China together with Individual prizes. The visiting Chinese golfers saw the golf course at its best playing in the winter sunshine.
Guests attended a Prize Giving Dinner which started with a welcome Cocktail before guests proceeded to the Valley Restaurant in the clubhouse where they were treated to local mezes and bbq meats followed by traditional desserts. Local singer Niyal Öztürk entertained her audience throughout the night.
Ken Black (Golf Club Secretary) admirably hosted the evening. Soner Yetkılı in his capacity as President of the North Cyprus Golf Federation was also called upon to say a few words. The sponsor of the inaugural Kanpura Cup 2013 was Xu Xuequn, a single handicap golfer himself and currently running his Bohemia Crystal business in Czech Republic presented beautiful crystal vases to the individual winners. The Team prizes this year staying in North Cyprus to be played for again next year!
Xu Xuequn in his thank you speech said that the evening saw a true integration of nationalities through their love of golf with friendships being made through the languages of Chinese, Turkish, English and German between the members and visitors. All the group looking forward to revisiting the Resort again next year to regain the trophies!
