Hungary is preparing for YEM

The top event of the Hungarian golf celebrating the 100 celebrating the 100 anniversary of golf existing in the country is the Young European Masters. It is already the second time the most talented young player of the continent will meet at tha Lake Balaton.

“Is a great honour for the Royal Balaton Golf & Yacht Club to host the EYM in 2011 for the second and consecutive time after 2010” – says Mr. Tibor Sarlós, Club Manager. “The competition of the best young golf players of Europe is maybe the first real picture of the future European, US PGA Tour and Ryder Cup players and the game quality is not far away from mentioned tournaments' – we experienced it last year” – continues Mr. Sarlós.

The golf course's quality will match with that of the players despite of the fact, that Royal Balaton Golf Course is only in its third year of operation. Last year it was said by the players, it is one of the best courses in Middle Europe with a marvelous picture from the 10th green to the greatest lake of Middle Europe.

The first 18-hole golf course around Lake Balaton received several national and international recognitions for being one of the new secret pearls of the former ‘East’. After becoming Hungary’s Best Golf project in 2008 and best golf course in 2009, the course collected the best course award in 2010 again and supports this with continuous high quality fairways, greens and services. This beautiful and high-quality championship-course lies in a unique natural environment next to the peninsula Tihany.

Starting from the 18th July two girls and boys from nearly each European country, all in all more than 100 players, arrive at the lake to start the challenge with two practice days followed by three competition days. In 2010 a 15 year old girl and two fourteen year old boys played course record on the par 72 championship course with -4 and -3 respectively, playing from red and white tees. Furthermore, the youngsters had to prove a consistent and stable performance, as the 2010 Junior Ryder Cup team was picked at the last tournament day. The EGA, the Hungarian Golf Federation and the Royal Balaton Golf & Yacht Club have done a great job last year and hopefully will repeat this in July 2011, when cards are mixed again and the future golf superstars invade the Hungarian course to match against each other in a furious 3-days competition.
