Jakarta, 23 June 2014: The Liberty Cup series has expanded to the Java Islands where 98 golfers competed in Jakarta, Indonesia from 18th till the 21st June 2014 over 3 rounds of golf stretching from Tangerang to Bogor area.
Golf courses which played host to the tournament were Modern Golf Club, Permata Sentul Golf Club and Damai Indah Golf Club (BSD Course) where they welcomed golfers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Holland.
Besides the free flow of Carlsberg beer courtesy of Carlsberg Malaysia, all golfers were pampered with fantastic hospitality including Javanese massages at half way huts, attractive prizes, valuable goodie bags and spectacular golfing experience. This jointly organised tournament by Liberty Golf Services and Liberty Golf Indonesia also cooperated with Enjoy Jakarta, the local tourism authority, which has supported this series.

I am certain all of our guests enjoyed the meticulous preparation we have made and especially our infamous queue-cutting system – where all golfers were not hassled with hotel or every golf course check-in & golf bags logistics” said Group General Manager, Eushen Ng. “Very proud of my team in Malaysia & Indonesia to have delivered all facets of hospitality so smoothly during the tournament where we know we would be succumbed by the traffic conditions in Jakarta – commonly known as ‘macet’. However, to be the industry leader, we are our worst enemy and will constantly raise the benchmark” Eushen explained.
This Jakarta leg tournament saw a new Presenting Sponsor in the guise of The Australian Property Gallery (APG). “A joint-partnership with Liberty Golf makes a lot of commercial sense for us especially these are key strategies to develop more prospects for our business” said Victor Jee, director of The Australian Property Gallery which is based in Publika, Kuala Lumpur. This company which specialises in property investment to Australia conducts property tours including 5 star golfing & hospitality experience. “To be able to share great investment opportunities and providing possible free golf tours to Australia during this tournament is very befitting of this sponsorship deal” Victor added.
Garuda Indonesia, the Official Airlines for this tournament was also very pleased with the outcome of the tournament. Its Country Manager, Dasep Suanda said “It is comforting to know that the golf tourism to Indonesia has picked up and that Malaysian golfers can take advantage of our great in-flight hospitality and attractive pricing all year round to the many destinations we offer. Also we have added another flight to Jakarta ex-KUL to make it 3 flights daily”.
“We have also increased the number of categories for this leg - Top 3 Gross & Nett winner for Male, Female and Senior categories. This will give more opportunities to our guests to take something home“ said Eushen. Lilian Wong emerged as the Ladies Champion by shooting 183. The 20 handicapper member of Kota Permai said “New courses played may have brought new luck to my game but I’m thoroughly happy with my achievement and also the hassle free concept of the whole tour”. Lilian was also the Champion at the Siem Reap leg this year. Dalgit Singh Bhagwan Singh emerged as the Senior Champion where he shot 168 to top the other 48 senior golfers who took home a trophy and a brand new TaylorMade driver.
The tournament concluded with Roszali Baharuddin as the tournament Champion by shooting 154. The 1 handicapper from Johor, who was also last year’s Carlsberg Golf Classic champion, said “I didn’t exactly play to my full capabilities as it was also my first time to play all 3 great golf courses. But I must say I am very happy to have made some new contacts during this tournament as it had a great platform for networking opportunities. Furthermore, all tour arrangements were top-notch and totally hassle free”.
