Following an R&A Golf Development visit, Superior Golf Club was rewarded for its golf development work with the gift of 25 Taylor Made “Burner” Junior sets. On Wednesday 26th October, 18 local schools who have been involved in SNAG coaching throughout the season came to Superior Golf Club for a season closing event where they got to try the clubs for the first time.
Over 300 children from 18 local schools have been given coaching throughout the season by British PGA Golf Professional Nick Solski and his team of coaches. The season closing event used the 6 hole Executive course of Superior Golf Club as an improvised 9 hole SNAG layout.
50 children represented the schools and started with a tour of the golf facility, followed by the 9 hole golf competition. The early winter weather was not a factor due to the distraction of sweets and hot tea provided by “Albatross” Restaurant. The Taylor Made golf clubs were presented to the children on the driving range, and after a short demonstration by golf professional Nick Solski, the children got to spend an hour hitting real golf balls for the first time.
Golf Director of Superior Golf Club, Nick Solski said:
“It is great to see the progression of the children. Last year they didn’t know what golf was, this year they learnt how to use SNAG in their schools and today they are hitting Taylor Made Golf Clubs on a driving range. I’m looking forward to introducing them to the golf course next season.”
