KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 20 JUNE 2007 - The Saujana, a property managed by the General Hotel Management (GHM) group, today announced major refurbishment plans commencing June 2007. Renovation works are scheduled to be completed by mid 2008.
Refurbishments will be done in two phases with the first phase being an extensive rebuilding of the current Club wing to introduce The Club at The Saujana, an all-suite estate featuring 78 Club Suites. The Club at The Saujana will be positioned as one of the best resorts-in-the-city in Kuala Lumpur for business and leisure travellers. Costing approximately RM60 million (USD 17.4 million), the first phase of the renovation works will not affect the remaining room blocks, restaurants; the main lobby with Bayu Lounge and the Function Rooms will still be operating for guests.
Taking its name from an old Malay expression to mean ‘As far as the eye can see’, The Saujana, is currently a 360-room hotel adjoined to two championship golf courses – The Saujana Golf & Country Club, one of Asia’s best golf courses and has hosted many international tournaments in the past. “For more than 20 years, The Saujana has earned a reputation as a haven for both business and pleasure," remarked Mr. Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, general manager, The Saujana. "The Club at The Saujana will create an environment reflecting the premium quality products in the area.”
The Club at The Saujana will feature stylish interiors with larger suites ranging from 80 square metres to 180 square metres. An integral part of improved amenities offered exclusively to guests of Club Suites include butler services, a spa, a restaurant and a private swimming pool. Complimentary limousine transfers, continental breakfast and drinks and canapés served during cocktail hours at the Club Lounge, laundry, internet access in the Club Lounge, mini bar, daily international newspapers and late check-out times (until 6.00pm daily) are also included for Club Suite guests.
An extension of a premium GHM service will be the availability of a shopping butler who will be on-hand to drive guests of Club Suites to any shopping centre within the Kuala Lumpur city centre.
The signature GHM style will be evident in all the new Club Suites – an Asian-inspired design featuring plush interiors in muted tones contrasted against dark wood floors. The Club at The Saujana is designed by award-winning Indonesian designer Mr. Jaya Ibrahim, who has worked with selected GHM Hotels around the world such as The Setai - South Beach, Miami; The Nam Hai - Hoi An, Vietnam; The Chedi – Milan; and The Heritage House - Mendocino, California. The Club at The Saujana will also have a private entrance foyer and check-in lounge.
Each Club Suite is designed to overlook tranquil ponds or landscaped grounds within the hotel’s premises. Lavish bathrooms will also feature sunken terrazzo bathtubs, private lavatories with bidets, large walk-in wardrobes and luxurious shower cabins.
The Club at The Saujana will also have an in-house boutique selling local souvenirs, handicrafts and artwork such as sarongs and batik.
The Club at The Saujana will be a five-star resort with Club Suites priced between RM2,000.00++ (USD 435.00++) and RM5,000.00++ (USD 1,085.00++) per room, per night.
Targeted to commence shortly after the launch of The Club at The Saujana, the second phase of the refurbishment programme will include public areas within the hotel such as the main lobby, restaurants, and existing hotel rooms, transforming The Saujana into one of the Kuala Lumpur’s best hotels, meeting the sophisticated needs of well-heeled business and leisure travellers.
