Joburg Gems Golf Members Sparkle

The Joburg Gems collective made up of the premier golf clubs and golf hotel in Johannesburg, have each undergone recent upgrades or launched new offerings this year, helping to elevate the overall experience that golfers can enjoy on the Joburg Gems golf packages.

The Bryanston Country Club, one of the most renowned golf courses in Johannesburg has just undergone recent renovations to their clubhouse and built a stunning new halfway house and pro shop that will rival the best internationally. This together with their five event venues, 18-hole world-class golf course, 2 restaurants, bowling green, tennis courts, squash courts and swimming pool ensures something for everyone in a healthy and relaxing club environment.

Royal JHB & Kensington Golf Club once again successfully hosted the prestigious 2015 Joburg Open earlier this year, after undergoing a halfway house and member bar revamp at the end of 2014. The club has also successfully added the Dulce Restaurant brand to their hospitality offering as of September 2014 and just recently opened up their refurbished driving range that has been well received.

The Fairway Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, ideally situated on the 1st fairway of Randpark Golf Club’s Firethorn course, have just launched the dates for their extremely popular Fairway Wine Pairing Dinners. After a day on the golf course, golfers can then enjoy a delicious 4-course menu and wine pairing evening prepared by Executive Chef Jean-Pierre Siegenthaler.

Last but not least, Randpark Golf Club’s new Firethorn golf course re-opened earlier this month, having just undergone a radical transformation. The course has seven brand new holes, 18 new greens and greens complexes moulded into shape by internationally acclaimed course shaper Alex Ligowski.  Golfers will also certainly notice major changes to the bunkering, the river that runs through the course has been cleaned up and refurbished, and alien vegetation removed to the point where Firethorn is now an eco-friendly ‘green lung’.

These members have enjoyed the collaboration of working together over the last four years with Joburg Tourism on the Joburg Gems initiative. The main objective is to market Johannesburg as a golfing destination and attract both the international golfer and the local club golfer from surrounding towns and provinces to enjoy the various package options on offer in the city of gold.

Sample packages start from R4000 per golfer sharing for a 3-night stay at The Fairway Hotel with three rounds at the Joburg Gems members clubs Bryanston Country Club, Royal JHB & Kensington Golf Club (West or East course) and Randpark Golf Club (Bushwillow or Firethorn course). Alternatively customised packages of one and two night stays with one or two rounds of golf are also available.
