Costa Ballena Ocean Golf in Andalucía, Spain released two smart phone apps, designed by the English App Development Company - Trent Digital. The apps built in English and Spanish are available for free download from Apple iTunes and Android.
The apps offer customer integration and golf media facilities and are the first of its kind to be launched in Spain. There is a detailed course map with descriptions and images for each of the 27 holes along with score card and slope. Golfers are kept up to date with golf tournaments, golf pro tips, golf events, specials and golf shop promotions through instant messaging and information loaded on to the app.
“These apps are designed to bring our clients up to date with what’s happening within the club at a moments notice,” said the Club’s Director of Sales and Marketing Gudrun Selzer.
The apps have been designed to be both interactive and informative. The user has GPS directions, can leave comments, send in images, and connect with friends on Facebook and Twitter, keep score during golf matches with a score card and scan QR codes with an inbuilt QR scanner. “The aim of the golf apps is to enhance the relationship between the players and the Club. The booking service, fan wall, feedback forms, social links and course directions all from a touch screen app makes this all possible,“ said Brin May senior developer at Trent Digital.
The Costa Ballena Ocean Golf course was designed in 1995 by Spanish Masters Champion Jose Maria Olazabal and is the official training base for National Teams during the winter months. The course has 27 championship holes, the largest driving range in Europe and a 9 hole Par 3 including practice areas for putting and chipping.
