IMG Prestige Welcomes La Manga Club As First European Partner

The five-star La Manga Club resort has been confirmed as the first European member of IMG Prestige, a collection of some of the world’s most exalted golf venues.

The Spanish resort now sits alongside the likes of Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand; Yas Links, United Arab Emirates; and Legend Golf & Safari Resort, South Africa.

IMG Prestige is a global reciprocal programme which brings together the finest golf facilities in the world and provides their members privileged access to other participating venues.

Neil Coulson, IMG Golf Course Services’ director of operations, said: “La Manga Club is one of Europe’s most recognised golf destinations and we are delighted it has become the first club in Europe to join IMG Prestige.

“The members of La Manga Club now have privileged access to a network of premier golf clubs around the world which is growing rapidly. We are confident participating in IMG Prestige will be an exceptional benefit of membership at La Manga Club.”

Antonio Ros, general manager of La Manga Club, said: “It is always a nice mark of recognition to be invited to join an exclusive group such as this but to be the first in Europe is a huge achievement of which we are very proud.

“IMG Prestige undoubtedly boasts a portfolio of the finest clubs worldwide. We’re delighted to join the programme and believe our members will find it extremely beneficial, and members of other prestigious clubs can look forward to visiting us.”

La Manga Club has been synonymous with golf since opening nearly 40 years ago. It has an undoubted pedigree in the sport having hosted various prestigious events including the Spanish Open, while Seve Ballesteros and Gary Player both worked with the resort as touring pro and director of golf respectively. It also remains a strong candidate to host the 2015 Solheim Cup.

The five-star resort boasts three championship courses, in addition to outstanding practice facilities for both long and short game, set alongside a luxurious hotel, sumptuous spa complex, 28-court tennis centre and a host of other leisure facilities including more than 20 bars and restaurants.
