KOTA KINABALU, THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2013: Malaysia’s current number one female golfer, Aretha Pan Herng, turned professional three months ago and have officially joined Sutera Harbour Resort as well as Golf Academy Borneo as the Touring Professional.
General Manager of Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club, Howie Roberts has announced that Aretha is now based at Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club and is utilising the Club’s practice facilities and golf course to hone her game for the professional golf.
“Aretha will now wear the logo of Sutera Harbour as she traverses the course locally and internationally as she competes in the golfing tournaments.” says Roberts.
Aretha is scheduled to compete in two tournaments in Taiwan later this month, and in Tokyo, Japan for the Japan LPGA Tour Q-School in August where she is the only sole representative from Malaysia.
“My target is to be in the top-10 ranking for the Ladies Asian Golf Tour hopefully by end of the year,” says Aretha.
“I am preparing myself physically and mentally as I am aiming for the Olympic Games. I also need to ensure my ranking as the top two golfers in the country for me to make it to the Rio games.”
The 2012 Malaysian Games (Sukma) Champion recently finished 17th out of a field of 100 in her first tournament as a professional during the Ladies Asian Golf Tour in Taiwan.
