Anazoe Spa in the top spot for the second year running
18 June 2014, London - Anazoe Spa at Costa Navarino, the prime sustainable destination located in the Greek region of Messinia, southwest Peloponnese, has been awarded the top accolade in two categories at this year’s SPA Traveller Awards, as Best International Family-Friendly Spa Hotel/Resort and Best International New/Refurbished Spa.
The SPA Traveller Awards recognise the ultimate spa and wellness destinations around the world, as voted for by international readers of The SPA Traveller magazine. The awards are regarded as a benchmark to showcase excellence and achievement in the spa industry.
Anazoe Spa’s success in 2014 follows it being named winner in two categories in 2013, namely the overall category of Best Spa Hotel/ Resort: Greece alongside Best European Spa for Incentive Breaks.
After initial public nominations, the expert judging panel narrows the field to five finalists per category, before public voting is re-opened to decide upon the ultimate winner. The win for a second year acknowledges Anazoe Spa as a leading global authority on spa practices and treatments.
The name Anazoe derives from the Greek word for rejuvenation and encapsulates the underlying aim of the spa, which is a total revitalisation of body and spirit in accordance with the ancient Greek maxim “a healthy mind in a healthy body”.
The 4,000 square metre Anazoe Spa was recognised for its offering of a full range of specialist treatments based on ancient Greek health and beauty practices. Its unique oleotherapy® signature treatments are based on thousand-year-old local practices inscribed on clay tablets that were discovered at the nearby Palace of Nestor, combined with utilising the area’s exclusive natural ingredients and the physiotherapy techniques as taught by Hippocrates, the ‘father’ of western medicine.
