El Gouna Golf Club’s 3rd Green Jacket Tournament – organized in co-operation with the Steigenberger Golf Resort El Gouna - took place on March 16 with the competition attracting 59 golfers from all over Europe and Egypt. Ladies were well represented with over 20 female contestants.

The youngest competitor was 9-year-old Brandon Bernack from Germany, followed by 11-year-old Sherif Rizk, son of El Gouna resident Lamia Khalifa. Sherif had previously won the Katameya Heights Junior Open in the 11 and under category and the Katameya Junior Series last February.

The winner of the Green Jacket / Men was Mr. Marcus Suehr from Sweden with a gross result of 25 (Stableford). He and his female counterpart Mrs. Anna Geusau from Austria (result 23) won a one week stay at the Steigenberger Golf Resort including free use of the El Gouna Golf Course and additional two rounds at the newly opened Madinat Makadi Golf Course.

As a great surprise, the trophies were handed over to the ladies by the current “Mister Germany” and the men had the special pleasure of receiving their trophies from the present “Miss Germany” and her two runner-ups.

The El Gouna Golf Club has announced that the 4th Green Jacket Tournament will be held on the last Sunday before Easter in 2009.
