New Reopening of Jandía Golf Course

The wonderful, always sunny, Canary Islands embraces again GOLF by reopening, after a long period of drought, the Jandía Golf Course.

It reopened after 5 years of being closed because the old owner bankrupted in 2009. Two years later, in 2011, there was a first try to reopen by an Iranian businessman, Hussein Sabet, but he failed his try. Nevertheless, in 2013, a totally independent company, specialized in Golf Course Management carried out a huge investment to recondition the golf course and finally reopened it in September 2014.

This has been a long journey. They have been working, since the opening, during the past year to set up the golf playing surface conditions to get to this point. From here they will keep on working hard to keep up with the level required, according to the market expectations and demands. Compromising them to keep up until they reach the high standard product demanded by all the Golf Agents.

They are honoured to introduced you to the new Jandía Golf Course with: new golf routing adjustments. Mainly to get a better speed of play and to integrate all new practice facilities into the golf course. That included also some changes in the number of the holes: old 15th and 16th became the new 1st and 2nd holes.

On top of that, all the green complex was reshaped and renovated. Integrating most of the hills to the green surfaces, providing them with some more movement and interesting breaks to the greens, avoiding some blind greens, installing new drainage system, and a long etc. They took special attention to the reconditioning and building of new bunkers at holes 1, 3, 5, 6, 11, 12, 15 and 18. For beginners and practicing they have improved their practice facilities with a better driving range, putting green and a short game area.

Regarding to water and irrigation system, they installed a whole new system: including sprinklers, controllers, wires, pumps, etc. All controlled by the new pump station to supply water into the golf course irrigation reservoir. Jandía Golf Course and its owners are all in with preserving and taking care of the environment by strictly following the Environmental Normative, preserving the playability of the golf course. They have cleared high invasive plants from high surface slopes at holes 4, 6, 8, 11 and 17th and all the grass was re-established all along the golf course. You must see how nice the recondition of the bridges and lakes ended!

The Clubhouse, as well as the rest of the golf course, has been reconditioned with new electric and water installations, a new Proshop, a new charming terrace, new cafeteria, new furniture and golf furniture in the course and driving range… new everything! They’ve invested in buggies, trolleys, set of rental clubs… you definitely CANT MISS IT!
