Emaar boost for Dubai Ladies Masters

05 November 2007

DUBAI, November 2 -- Emaar Properties has once again joined forces with 'golf in DUBAI' as a co-sponsor of the Dubai Ladies Masters which will be held from December 10 to 16, 2007 at the Emirates Golf Club.

Emaar’s support to the season-ending Ladies European Tour event underlines the company's commitment to popularizing women's golf in the region and enhance Dubai's image as the golfing destination of choice in the Middle East.

Promoted and organised by golf in DUBAI, the euro 500,000 Dubai Ladies Masters is one of the most successful tournaments on the Ladies European Tour, and very popular among the tour players.

Currently, 160 tour players have committed to play in the tournament that only has 114 spots available. This is the result of the superb comments bestowed on the venue following year one for its course conditioning, and the warm hospitality extended by the organisers.

Dubai has already entered the realm of being the number one golf destination worldwide and 'golf in DUBAI' is taking its expertise internationally too. Recently, it jointly hosted the Hassan II Golf Trophy by Emaar in Rabat, Morocco.

Emaar’s expansion as the leading developer of master planned residential communities has been coupled with a new-found partnership with ‘golf in DUBAI’.

Emaar have already teamed up with ‘golf in DUBAI,’ to promote two new events in India  -- the EMAAR MGF Indian Masters (EIM) and EMAAR MGF Ladies Masters (EIM). The ELM will take place December 3-8 in Bangalore, followed by the EIM that is slated for the week after the Dubai Desert Classic in New Delhi.

“Our support to golf is part of the goal to build golf-centric residential communities in emerging markets, and thus build on the tourism potential of the countries too," said Maha Al Amir, Assistant Director of Marketing Operations, Emaar Properties.

"With proper implementation, these golf tourism markets can be further integrated with the strong tourism component of Dubai thus creating a win-win situation for all key partners,” she added.

The collaboration between Emaar and golf in DUBAI will see new golf markets emerge that until recently have been overlooked by other golf destinations around the world.

“In essence we are building golf exchanges with new markets, keeping in mind that Dubai will continue to be the hub for all things golf,” stated Mohamed Juma Buamaim, Vice Chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAI.

“We are taking all the necessary steps to ensure that this takes place, including partnering with the sanctioning bodies in the countries we enter to foster the game’ s development,” Buamaim continued, highlighted with the recent support announced by the Shaikh Maktoum Golf Foundation for the Indian Golf Union’s Junior Golf Programme to grow the game in India.

For Emaar, “giving back” is a cornerstone of the company and recently sponsored the annual Charity Putt at the Dubai Desert Classic, with proceeds benefiting local charities and the Shakih Maktoum Golf Foundation.

Besides Emaar, 'golf in DUBAI' is backed by Dubal (Dubai Aluminium) as the main partner and National Bank of Dubai, Jumeirah Hotels, Emirates airline, BMW, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Gulf News, Omega and CNN as partners in its drive to showcase the emirate's vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
