AGTC 2012 Review
426 delegates from 46 countries attended IAGTO’s inaugural Asia Golf Tourism Convention
(AGTC) which took place from 22-25 April at The Mines Resort & Golf Club in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia
138 buyers from 100 golf tour operators companies in 38 countries had over 4000
meetings with 243 golf resort, golf club, hotel, inbound operator and tourist board
delegates from 140 companies representing 16 countries across the Asia Pacific region.
Members of the Malaysia Golf Tourism Association (MGTA) from the host destination
turned out in force with 65 delegates attending from 32 companies.
IAGTO’s President, Peter Walton, said “Although we knew that the time was right
to bring both sides of the golf tourism industry together in Asia, we were absolutely
delighted to see such a positive response, not only from golf tour operators from
around the world, but also from the golf resorts, golf clubs, hotels and tourist
boards across the Asia Pacific region.
We are particularly delighted that this event has represented a landmark moment
for the MGTA, one year on from its formation last year. Malaysia grasped this opportunity
to showcase its many and varied golf destinations to more than 80 golf tour operators
who participated in pre and post inspection visits to Kuala Lumpur, Malaca, Johor
and Sabah.”
Golf resorts, golf clubs, hotels, inbound operators and tourist boards attended
from 17 countries: Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines,
Japan, Korea, Brunei, Singapore, Mauritius, India, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fiji, Australia
and New Zealand.
We are delighted to announce that the 2013 Asia Golf Tourism Convention will be
held in Pattaya, Thailand from 29 April – 2 May.
