IAGTO Membership Criteria
Golf Tour Operator
For the purposes of IAGTO membership, we define a 'Golf Tour Operator' as a company that sells golf holidays direct to the consumer/golfer.
A Golf Tour Operator must have been trading in compliance with all relevant travel regulations for at least 2 years before an application can be processed. For example, Golf Tour Operators in the European Community must be in compliance with the EC Package Travel Regulations.
Golf Tour Operators whose primary business is to sell to consumers/golfers who reside in other countries must protect those consumers against the company's potential financial failure.
IAGTO has to be notified if any of your company directors have held the position of a company director in any other golf tour operating company that has ceased trading in the past 5 years.
Code of Conduct for Tour Operators
Inbound Operator
Otherwise known as 'Ground Handlers', 'Receptive Operators' or 'Destination Management Companies'.
All inbound operators must have been trading in compliance with all relevant travel regulations for at least 2 years before an application can be processed.
To be considered for membership, an Inbound Operator must provide its services to tour operators and be able to provide at least one reference from a tour operator client.
If the Inbound Operator also sells direct to the consumer, then the company must be in compliance with all relevant trading regulations (which usually relates to the protection of the consumer against the potential financial failure of the company).
If your company operates as both an Inbound Operator and an Outbound Golf Tour Operator, you will be charged only the Inbound Operator membership fee although you will qualify for membership in both categories.
